Chinese Honey Chicken
Ingredients:
- Chicken Marinade:
- 500gChicken, 0.75 cm slices
- 1Egg
- 16 gCorn Starch
- 2 gSalt
- 60 mlSunflower Oil
- Sauce:
- 150 gHoney
- 30 mlWhite Wine Vinegar
- 30 mlSoy Sauce
- 16 gOyster Sauce
- 1Onion, quartered, layered
- 6 clovesGarlic, crushed
- 20 gGinger, finely grated
- 2 gCayenne Pepper
- 3 gSzechuan Pepper, ground
- 2 tbspCorn Starch, mixed in Water to make a slurry
Method:
- In a bowl mix Honey, Soy Sauce, White Wine Vinegar, Oyster Sauce, set aside.
- In a bowl add Egg, and Salt, then beat the Egg. Add Chicken strips, mix. Add Corn Starch. Mix thoroughly.
- In a wok on medium high heat, add oil, allow to get hot. Add Chicken, fry for 2 minutes, turn, then fry 2 more minutes. Set aside, leaving Oil.
- Add Onion, fry for 1 minute. Make a well in centre of wok, add Garlic, and Ginger, and Szechuan Pepper, Fry for 30 seconds.
- Add Honey mixture to wok, bring to boil. Thicken with Cornstarch mixture until desired consistency.
- Add Chicken to wok, cook for 1 minute.
